Alabama Dough Recipe
- 1 ¼ C. Warm water or milk
- 1 T instant yeast
- ¼ C. Honey or sugar
- 3 C. Marias River Farms’ Whole White Wheat Flour
- 1 ¼ tsp. baking powder
- ¾ tsp. salt
- ¼ C. Olive oil
Preheat oven to 350˚ F. Dissolve yeast in warm water or milk. Add sugar or honey. Set aside. In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add in yeast mixture and oil. Stir till combined. Knead until smooth and soft, adding in just enough flour to avoid sticking. Do not over knead or add too much flour as this will overly stiffen the dough. Note: This dough will only require one rise. Immediately after kneading, shape into whatever form you desire; rise and bake. Bake until just starting to brown.
This is a versatile dough that can be used in many different applications:
- Makes one 16-inch round pizza dough
- Makes one stromboli
- Makes one 13×9 in. pan of dinner rolls
- Makes about 6 hamburger/hot dog buns
- Makes 1 loaf of bread. (add ¼ tsp citric acid to flour mixture)
